The “too Good to Go” app

Today it was time for something new, the app: too Good to Go!

I already knew about their existance for a while, but when I downloaded their app for the first time, I lived in a small village. Not much to be saved there. So I deleted the app before using it.

Now I live in the big city, luckely much food to save here!

I bought a magic box from a city grocery store and a bakery on the go.

I first walked to the city grocery store: Spar City. When arriving there and telling them that I came to pick up my too good to go magic box, a guy went along their shelves to see what he could pick for me. I think it took about 10 minutes.
Somewhat time consuming, but arriving home and seeing what I got, I was not dissapointed at all!
I bought the box for €3,50 and I got way more then 3 times the price of the box (which is the minimum of what they need to put in the box).
Just for your imaging, this box was not really a box. It was a paper bag.

There were products in which were to eat the same day, but most of them were dated on the next day or even with a later date.

I am not the easiest with food, but besides the pepper pate (which I gave to my neighbours) I liked everything in it.
Eventhough I am a single lady living on my own, I think I can use everything before its end date. The sandwich I ate right away. and I will do some grocery shopping to make a richer salad for dinner and foodprep macaroni to put in the freezer.
The fruit salad has its expiration date in three days, so I will eat that as a snack and last but not least I put the bread in my freezer so it will not even expire in the next few weeks.

Half an hour later I went to the bakery on the go: Jordy’s Bakery by bike. It was worth the 15 minutes bicycling trip eventhough it was very windy.

They already had my magix box ready. So after telling them I came to pick up the too good to go box, they told my I could pick it from the counter. In and out the bakery in a minute! I must add that they were already closed, so there was no one in line.

The magic box here were three paper bags. I bought them for €4,50 and the value was almost exactly three times its price. Because it was two whole breads and some pastries I had put them directly in my freezer at home. So no waste here at all!

I also love that they put in a receipt. So I know what they gave me and if I like it I can buy it again.

So my first introduction with too good to go was a good one!I don’t think I need to buy any bread in the next few weeks, since I don’t eat bread everyday. But I love that my freezer will keep them fresh for weeks!

To be honest, I thought I would find restaurants on the app too. I hope they will connect with the too good to go app in the future. They also have a lot of food waste.

After trying the app today for the first time, I am sure it won’t be the last!

Have you tried or are you planning to try the app?
