In my previous post about single holidays, I tried to get you excited by clearing up a misunderstanding and mentioning the advantages of single holidays. But I like to be transparent and of course there are also some disadvantages. That is why you will find the disadvantages of single holidays in this blog.
The group
Since you will travel with like-minded people during single holidays, the chance is quite small, but you may find a group where you have no connection with anyone of the group.
In addition, on many single holidays you will be paired up with a roommate. Gender and age are hereby often taken into account, but it is still possible you are paired up with someone you don’t feel a connection with or who snores, for example. However, there are also single holidays where you can book rooms for yourself (at additional costs most of the time).
The price
In general, single holidays are bit higher priced than when you travel as a pair. This is mainly because the organization you book with also wants to earn. But, I would also like to point out that solo holidays can be even more expensive. Booking a double hotel room or an activity for one person can make a solo holiday even more expensive than a single holiday.
Also, the organisation may have opted for accommodations and transport methods that are in a higher price range than you would choose yourself. But this can of course also be the other way around.
Freedom
Although you often have free time during the group holiday and you moslty can add certain activities to the holiday, most of it is already planned out. This means that during single holidays you have to give up some freedom because of this.
And do you want to stay somewhere longer or leave earlier than the indicated time? Then you are usually also out of luck.
The same applies to a place or activity that you would like to add to the program. Mostly there is no room for this.
