Books I read in October

I read a lot of books in October. First, because I was on holiday and second, because the autumn started and the wheater is bad. I really love to stay at home and read under a blanket with a hot cup of tea while it’s raining outside.

Most of the time I read the genres Thriller, Romance and Chick lit. But This month I didn’t read any thrillers.

De stroopwafelshop – Astrid Harrewijn (Chick lit) & Ik mis je – Gillian King (Romance)

Those two books I read are books only available in the Dutch language. Too bad, because I really liked them. Especially the first one. So if, in the future, ” De stroopwafelshop – Astrid Harrewijn” is translated into English, it really is a must read if you like chick lits! It’s about a Dutch girl going to New York to start a Dutch Waffle (Stroopwafel) shop. It’s funny and much more surprising than most chick lits.
“Ik mis je” is an emotional story about a girl who lost her best friend. It has besides love some emotional storylines. But the love storyline is built up as your typical chick lit storyline. But for me it was slightly better than a chic lit because of the other (more interesting) storylines.

Ray book series – E.L. Todd (Chick lit / Erotica)

Ray is a book series of E.L. Todd about a girl named Rae. Altough a lot of people really love this serie (the writer even wrote two extra books because of the success), I am not a huge fan.
There is more sex in the books than real stories in my opinion. And there is a lot of repetition in the stories. I also think the main charactars are a bit immature at some points. While they have serious jobs and some of them a lot of money on which they seem over their thirty’s at other points they look in their twenty’s.

But what I liked is that the stories are light-hearted and the books are easy to read. You know how it will end in most of the storylines, but there are also some suprises. And well, let’s be honest, in all these kind of books we already know the ending. It’s about how to get to that perfect ending!

After five books it really was enough for me, so I didn’t read the last two books from the series (book 6 & 7). Rae is not the main character anymore in those and they were added when her story already ended in the initially last book.

So if you like a quick, fun read and you are not afraid of sex, read the first book! You can always choose afterwards if you want to continue with the rest of the series.

I am now reading J.P. Delaney- The girl before. I will let you know next month if I liked it! Stay tuned.
